Meet Court!
Court Burrow (they/them) is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and community organizer based in Seattle, WA, on the unceded lands of the Duwamish and Coast Salish peoples. As a queer, disabled, trans nonbinary, and neurodivergent artist, their art explores how identity, difference, and shared vulnerability shape our sense of community and belonging. At the center of this work is their ceramic practice, where form, surface, and texture investigate the body as a site of expression—how it carries both strangeness and familiarity, resilience and fragility. Clay’s capacity to embody emotion allows Courtney to give form to questions of pain, joy, and renewal.
They see strong parallels between human difference and the interdependence of the natural world. Just as ecosystems thrive on diversity and irregularity, their sculptural forms and experimental surfaces draw inspiration from organic structures, natural patterns, and environmental processes, embodying change, adaptation, and persistence within the human experience.
Court is also the founder of Court Core, a creative consultancy supporting artists, small businesses, and community organizations. They are active participants in the Seattle arts community, both through group shows, volunteering, and curatorial projects such as FAT, a City of Seattle-funded exhibition centering on fat liberation. Across all facets of their work, Court is guided by a belief that difference is essential to the human condition and that art can hold space for complexity while cultivating connection.
